Your voice of the European Industry!

FEC has joined over 160 organisations calling for the extension of the CBAM to downstream products with high aluminium and steel content.

This is a key competitiveness issue for our members, who face risks of carbon leakage and unfair competition within the EU market.

For years, FEC has advocated for including most cookware, cutlery and catering equipment in the CBAM, to ensure imported products bear the same carbon cost as those produced in the EU.

Yet, several priority customs codes are still missing from the European Commission’s proposal.

Their inclusion is straightforward: these products are part of the steel and aluminium value chain.

Excluding them risks:
1. Distorting competition in the EU market
2. Undermining industrial jobs
3. Weakening the effectiveness of the CBAM

FEC calls on the European Parliament and Council to act:
👉 Include cookware HS codes in the CBAM extension (761510, 732393, 732394, 732399, 732410, 732392, 8211, 8212, 8213, 8214)
👉 Ensure cookware HS codes are effectively covered by export compensation mechanism.
