FEC was an active part in the latest Food Contact Regulations Europe 2024 Conference, where experts and industry leaders discussed key developments shaping the future of food contact materials. Here some highlights: Bastiaan Schupp, responsible for food contact at DG Sante, provided a comprehensive update on the progress in the development of the new food contact framework regulation.                                                                With a focus on innovation, Gernot Strehl from FEC presented a block chain approach in connection with a digital DOC as an alternative solution to a centralized data base. Other significant topics included the packaging and packaging waste regulation (PPWR), the regulation on recycled plastics for food contact applications and the complex topic of PFAS. Furthermore, insights from the paper and boards sector as well as the recycled plastics industry, shed light on the challenges in providing recycled high purity materials together with the required documentation for food packaging. About 40 attendees on site and further 120 persons following the event on screen proved the high interest for the conference.
