Your voice of the European Industry!

End of June, FEC held two webinars on CBAM for our member companies and national associations. Starting in 2026, the European carbon ETS will increase costs for electricity and raw materials in the EU. To compensate this effect a carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) will be applied to imports from outside of EU.

Our experts informed participants about:

➡️ the different regulatory phases and implementation periods before the end of 2025,
➡️ the high risk of an unfair market situation with products from EU manufacturers taxed and products produced outside of EU not,
➡️ FEC products at risk of carbon leakage i.e. products not covered by CBAM or ETS,
➡️ FEC’s actions as member of the DG-TAXUD expert group to avoid the two risks and to advocate for a simpler regulatory framework.

The webinars were hosted by our Sustainable Development Experts, Jean-Yves Crauser-Delbourg and Kristina Krisciunaite, with moderation by Ludovic Guitton (Head of the FEC Sustainable Development Expert Team).
More than 20 participants joined, contributing valuable questions and comments.

Many thanks to everyone involved!

Stay tuned for more updates!
