Three days of insightful presentations, discussions and valuable knowledge exchange among industry experts – that is what the annual conference in Baveno, Italy, is known for.

Last week, FEC had the privilege of representing the multiple-use food contact sector and providing deep insights into its risk management. Our speaker Gernot Strehl (Head of FEC´s Food Contact Expert Team) drew a larger picture by emphasizing that compliance with food contact regulations is just one component of ensuring overall food safety.

Gernot pleaded for setting reasonable substance limit values, considering current standard analytical methods, background contamination and other sources, such as naturally occurring substances in food. During his presentation, he also highlighted improved advancements in monitoring techniques and risk assessment methodologies.

We’re already looking forward to reconnecting with everyone in 2025!
